Uchi Scottsdale is an award-winning sushi restaurant led by chef Tyson Cole and operated by Hai Hospitality. AV3 Design Studio was engaged for site planning and architecture in collaboration with interior designer Hazelbaker Rush. The remodel expanded the dining area and kitchen and added a side patio.

The design reinterpreted the building’s Southwestern Craftsman character with contemporary refinements. Lighter desert colors and natural materials — warm plaster, light-stained wood, and textured stone — replaced heavier tones to create a brighter, more welcoming space. Clean millwork, simple lighting, and subtle metal accents introduce modern contrast without overwhelming the Craftsman roots.

The result is a calmer, warmer dining environment that complements Uchi Scottsdale’s refined menu and enhances both indoor and outdoor guest experiences.
